Kamlesh Kapur — historian, educator and an independent researcher was born in Lahore (now Pakistan), her family moved to East Punjab.

She was among the first twenty women to be directly selected in the Indian Central Services. She worked for 10 years as Senior Superintendent of Post offices in U.P. and West Bengal Circles.

As a historian and author, she has several critically acclaimed books including the comprehensive ‘Portraits of a Nation: History of Ancient India’ and ‘Hindu Dharma–A Teaching Guide.’ Other books include ‘Cooking for Life- Cooking for Delight’, ‘The Lost Generation’, ‘Astitva ke Pramanu (Atoms of Existence)’ (in Hindi), and ‘Pat Per Teen Chhaya’ (in Hindi meaning Three Shadows on the Screen). In 1987, she translated Srimad Bhagavad Gita in English for the students and lay persons. She has also translated the textbook Introduction to Economics by K.C. Palta in Hindi and Panjabi. As an educator, Kamlesh Kapur has conducted several interfaith workshops and taught global studies in the NYC school system for 20 years.

Kamlesh Kapur has developed curriculum framework of teaching about Cultural Diversity, pluralism, and Multiculturalism.

She currently lectures on Ancient Indian History and Hindu Dharma with a view to show relevance of Hindu Dharma to modern societies in the broad perspective of psychology, philosophy, and physics. She holds a Masters in Economics and Masters in Education.
